First-Time Home Buying in Western Massachusetts

Buying your first home in Western Massachusetts is exciting & can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure where to start.

Between finances, neighborhoods, inspections, and offers, it can feel like a lot, but the good news is you don’t have to figure it out alone. One of the biggest misconceptions first-time buyers have is thinking they need to know everything before reaching out to a Realtor & you don’t. My job is to break the process down clearly, answer your questions in real language, and help you create a plan that fits your life, budget, and goals.

Western Massachusetts offers a wide range of homes and communities, and part of my role is helping you find a place that feels right for this season of your life, not just on paper, but in how you live day to day.

Financing can feel intimidating at first, which is why I work closely with trusted local lenders who take the time to explain your options, so you feel informed and confident, not pressured.

In today’s market, first-time buyers need a thoughtful strategy, strong advocacy, and someone who knows when to move quickly and how to protect their best interests.

Buying your first home is both a financial and emotional decision, and you deserve to feel supported every step of the way. From our first conversation to closing day, I’ll make sure you always know what’s happening, what comes next, and that you have someone in your corner who truly cares.

If you’re thinking about buying your first home in Western Massachusetts, even if you’re just in the early “maybe someday” phase, a simple conversation can make everything feel a lot clearer.

Thinking about buying? Book a mini consult.

Angie Schermerhorn

I’m Angie Schermerhorn, a Western Massachusetts Realtor with the Stephanie Salerno Team at Coldwell Banker Realty, and I help first-time homebuyers and first-time sellers feel confident every step of the way.

Most of my clients are working moms, independent women, and LGBTQ+ buyers who are doing this for the first time, buying their first home, selling their first home, or stepping into their next chapter. My job is to make the process feel clear, not scary.

I break everything down in real language, advocate hard for my clients, and don’t believe in pressure, fluff, or fear-based tactics. You’ll always know what’s happening, what your options are, and what makes the most sense for you.

Outside of real estate, I’m all about community, good coffee, and a great glass of wine. I’ve lived in Western Massachusetts my whole life, and I truly love the towns I serve and the people who make them feel like home.

Buying or selling a home is a huge move financially and emotionally and I take that responsibility seriously. I’m here to guide you, protect you, and celebrate you when you get the keys (or the check!).

What truly sets me apart is how personal I make this experience. I don’t just open doors, I build real relationships. I stay accessible, I care deeply about what this move means for your life (not just your finances), and I support you long after the paperwork is signed. My clients know they can text me the “silly” questions, the big fears, and the excited wins and I’ll always show up. I always say, “Get ready to have a friend for life.”

If you’re thinking about buying or selling your first home in Western Massachusetts and want a Realtor who’s honest, down-to-earth, and truly in your corner, I’d love to help!
